Kelly Mundine
Chief Executive Officer
Mibayn Disability Services
Kelly Mundine is a visionary leader and co-founder of Mibayn Disability, a 100% Koori-owned and operated organisation dedicated to empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through culturally sensitive disability support. Kelly has worked in the disability sector for over 20 years and is a current member of the NDIA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander reference group. Driven by a deep understanding of the gaps within the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for Indigenous Australians, Kelly established Mibayn to ensure equitable access to vital services and to foster self-determination within her community.
As a proud Bundjalung and Wiradjuri woman, Kelly brings a profound cultural heartbeat to her work, ensuring that Mibayn's services not only address practical needs but also respect and uplift the cultural identity of those they serve. Her leadership is instrumental in Mibayn's mission to break down the complexities of the NDIS, making the system more accessible and understandable for Indigenous communities, particularly in local, rural, and remote areas.
Kelly's commitment extends to building trust and fostering connections based on kinship, respect, and empowerment. Under her guidance, Mibayn Disability Services offers comprehensive support, including NDIS information, tailored Aboriginal support services, assistance with daily living, community participation, and culturally safe accommodation options.
Beyond her role at Mibayn, Kelly Mundine is a respected voice within the Indigenous community, advocating for culturally appropriate disability policies and programs. Her dedication ensures that no one is left behind in accessing the support they deserve, contributing significantly to a more equitable and accessible future for all First Nations Australians.
